Brief Biography
Alan Davies worked at AWRE Aldermaston after postgraduate work
in Theoretical Physics at UCL and was subsequently appointed to
a lectureship in the Mathematics Department at Royal Holloway in
1967 and to a senior lectureship in the Computer Science Department
in 1971. From 1969 to 1971 he was an associate professor in the
Computer Science Department, University of Nebraska and from 1975
to 1976 he was a research associate at the University of Berkeley.
He was also an adjunct professor at RIES, Wayne State University,
Detroit from 1976 to 1981. He is currently Deputy Head of Department
in the Computer Science Department at Royal Holloway, University
of London. His research interests are in computer modelling of large
scale scientific problems, especially in the field of laser optics
and wave guides.
